Bio
Melissa has served as an Assistant Principal at Westwood High School since 2020. She holds a Bachelor's degree in History from Texas Tech University (2003) and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University (2012). Before joining the team at Westwood, Melissa taught middle and high school social studies while also coaching cheerleading, later moving into administration as an Assistant Principal at both the middle and high school levels.
With over 25 years of experience in cheerleading, Melissa’s background spans middle school, high school, and collegiate cheer. As a high school athlete, she was a proud member of the Cheer Station Senior Black and co-ed squads, where she earned several national titles as an all-star cheerleader and coached at summer camps. She continued her cheer career at Harding University at the collegiate level.
Melissa is a proud mom to Hayden, a sophomore at Sam Houston State University, and Dylan, a Varsity cheerleader at Vandegrift High School. Outside of school and cheer, she enjoys long-distance running and spending time with her pup, Stella.
